The story of IpohRefill begins with its founder,

Peisee, who embarked on a transformative journey when she relocated to Ipoh for her children's secondary education. Upon her arrival, she noticed a concerning gap in environmental consciousness within the community. This realization ignited a passion for change, and Peisee was determined to make a difference.

In a fortunate turn of events, Peisee was selected as a participant in the Perak Environmental Accelerator Program 2023, organized by Biji-Biji Initiative. This program not only provided her with valuable knowledge and resources but also awarded her a grant aimed at promoting unpackaged retail options to the people of Perak. The initiative was a crucial step in combating the rising issue of plastic and single-use packaging pollution, which has become a significant challenge for many communities worldwide.

One of the key performance indicators (KPIs) of the grant was to establish five refill stations across Perak. Additionally, Peisee aimed to organize Ipoh’s first-ever zero waste bazaar, a vision that quickly came to fruition. On December 16 and 17, 2023, the bazaar took place at Red Mountain Sin Yoon Loong, and it was a remarkable success. The event not only raised awareness about sustainable practices but also fostered a sense of community among participants and attendees alike. https://www.malaymail.com/news/life/2023/12/08/conservation-resort-owners-zero-waste-bazaar-a-first-for-ipoh-in-hopes-of-making-zero-waste-a-lifestyle/106468

The positive feedback and enthusiastic participation at the bazaar inspired Peisee even further. Driven by the momentum generated from the event, she recognized the need for a permanent solution to the plastic pollution crisis in Ipoh. This realization led her to collaborate with Cleanme Chemicals, a local bio-eco factory, to open the first-ever zero waste store in Ipoh.

Thus, IpohRefill was born—an innovative store dedicated to providing plastic-free alternatives and promoting sustainable living within the community. With her unwavering commitment to environmental consciousness and the support of her local partners, Peisee is paving the way for a greener future in Ipoh.

Through IpohRefill, Peisee hopes to inspire others to join the movement, making sustainable choices a part of everyday life. The story continues, and with each refill station and event, the mission grows stronger—proving that change is not only necessary but also achievable.
